I just finished watching the Trump acceptance speech tonight. I will think more about it in the coming days. But my first impression is that it was really dark and frightening. Two impressions I got were especially disturbing:
1. His facial expressions and his body language reminded me of films I have seen of Benito Mussolini. Maybe he was just nervous but that was not a reassuring scene for me.
2. His speech was very nationalistic and at times sounded almost fascist. He was utterly unrealistic in what he is going to accomplish in a democracy. But he virtually never talked about what we as a nation can do together. His focus was too much on himself and what he is going to do. The words I heard were ones I might expect from a dictator like Castro or other demagogue!
