Those of us who have observed Donald Trump over the past 30 years know he is and has always been a fraud! He has regularly cheated small businesses out of millions of dollars he owes them for completed construction contracts. He practiced racial exclusion in his real estate business against federal law until the Justice Department caught up with him. But since his election last year I have been more worried about the future of my grandchildren in a Trump style America.

The Trump Presidency
Following is a Letter to the Editor of the Columbus Dispatch I wrote in late December of 2016. It was written to express the concerns many of my neighbors and I felt about the reality of a Trump Presidency. The letter was published in the Dispatch in its entirety at that time.

Can We Survive Trump??
I have not written on my blog in recent months. I was so demoralized by the outcome of the 2016 Presidential Election I just needed time to reflect. I was never enamored with Clinton, but I knew from observing him for 30 years that Trump was dangerous. I could not, and after 8 months of the Trump Administration still can’t, imagine what will become of our country if we actually have to endure 4 years of this insanity.
Sadly, Clinton is My Choice
This is my last political post before the 2016 Presidential election. I wish we had different candidates this election, but I am a realist. I know that either Trump or Clinton will be President next year regardless of how I feel.
Racial Conflict
A white police officer shoots an unarmed black citizen in Tulsa, OK. The citizen’s life is suddenly over and the officer’s life is probably ruined. I’m sure the black man did not do anything intentionally that he thought would provoke deadly force against him. Likewise, I’m certain that the white officer did not set out to kill anyone that day. She probably did suffer real though unwarranted fear for her life. Most likely both were innocent victims of the racial suspicion, fear, and hatred that bubbles just below the surface in our society.
Trump Supporters Think I’m Unfair
WOW!! I must be doing something right! My critics think I was too hard on Donald Trump in one of my recent blog posts.
Strange Christian Behavior This Election Cycle
This year we are faced with the worst two candidates for President in my lifetime. I wish we truly had a competitive choice. If he had any real chance of winning I would vote for Gary Johnson. I share much of his philosophy of national governance – MODERATE fiscal conservative; MODERATE social liberal.
America is Still a Racist Society
It has been 51 years since the Selma-to-Montgomery civil rights march of 1965. That (Bloody Sunday) was one of the turning points in the civil rights movement because TV captured the sheer brutality of white rule in the South. So after 5 decades have we achieved racial equality in the South, or anywhere else in America for that matter? Hardly! Not even close!!
Religious Tolerance
When it comes to faith, religion, and God I tend to be pretty much a free thinker. I am reasonably familiar with the basic tenants of most of the world’s major religions. I respect all of them. I support all sincere believers who practice moderate forms of their faith while respecting the rights of others to believe differently.
